Documentary and Cinematic Elopement Photography in NYC with Ali Cushing, capturing the feeling, creating memories of moments not poses, of a special day celebrating your love. Offering guidance through formalities and help planning experiences, I'm there to celebrate with you. NYC is a place like no other for an elopement. Since the beginning of my Matrimonial Photography journey, Elopements across NYC have held a special place in my heart. Both for the simplicity of two people in love putting themselves front and center while they take such an important step together, but also for the freedom it provides and the truly limitless number of experiences you can share on such a momentous day. In the spirit of supporting couples choosing this route, and my local proximity, I offer lower, NYC specific rates for elopement photography services than for those elsewhere.

Why Choose to Elope?

Couples choose to Elope for all sorts of reasons; affordability, keeping it low-key, family tensions, turning their vacation abroad into their their own romantic getaway-elopement, immigration deadlines, and getting the paperwork out of the way before a bigger formal or destination wedding are all motivations I’ve encountered, and no matter the case, I love how the couples get to make the whole experience focused on eachother. You can keep it just the two of you (with me as your ready and willing witness), or your select few loved ones can make it all the more special. Some only want the formal stuff captured, maybe a few quick portraits, and others want to make the whole day celebrating and making memories they can reflect on. Local couples tying the knot in their own neighborhood, coming out of state, or even crossing oceans, can take advantage of these rates for elopements around the City. Whatever the case, I am there to guide you through the logistics and decisions to make your experience smooth and your photos treasured.

The Short

The Mid Form

- 2 to 3-hour long session

You’d like your ceremony documented, maybe a few photos with your witnesses, and then would like a little variation in your portraits. 2-hours is great for a City Hall ceremony and portraits within walking distance, for instance. Consider extending to 3 hours if you’d like to hit up more than one location outside of walking distance.

Celebrate across the day and have story telling photos that to remember it by. The Narrative Elopement lets you live it up with both documentary style coverage from getting ready and details till you ride off into the night. After the ceremony we can buzz around town for portraits and truly memorable experiences. Grab a slice, ride a ferry, or watch sunset from a skyscraper. There are no limits!

In Case You’re Wondering….

Why do I offer a lower rate specifically for NYC Elopements?
Proximity and ease, and I just love them. When I moved to NY from Seattle, I lived in the same Prospect Heights, Brooklyn apartment for about 7 years. The NYC area served as my playground and I’d constantly spend my free days wandering and exploring new neighbors with a camera to capture whatever caught my eye. I got my wedding photography business rolling by doing City Hall and local elopements and they’re still some of my favorite sessions. While I now live just up the Hudson in Sleepy Hollow, my trek into Manhattan isn’t really any different than it was coming from Brooklyn, and all five boroughs keep my creativity firing on all cylinders. Not that I need one, but elopements are my favorite excuse to head into the City.

Aaaaand accessibility is important to me. Whatever the reason for choosing to elope, I know full sized weddings are expensive and I want to offer a more accessible option for couples who deserve genuine and beautiful photos and a memorable experience without breaking the bank. And unlike full weddings that have countless moving parts, and all of the stress of big guest lists and budgets, putting more pressure on the couple and the photographer, Elopements in NYC are more relaxed, but by no means less special.

Do you have to have a City Hall ceremony to qualify for this discounted Elopement rate?

Not at all. Ceremonies in a park, on a roof top, on the Brooklyn Bridge, or wherever all count too.

Do you have to have a ceremony at all?

As far as photography coverage goes? Certainly not. I’ve had couples hire me for just their portraits and that’s just fine too. Don’t need a full two hours? Have a unique arrangement in mind? Reach out! We’ll go over what you have planned and the location’s logistics and figure something out :)

What if I’m doing an elopement with just a few people first, but would like coverage of a bigger celebration later or outside of NYC?

That’s totally okay! Tell me all about your plans and I’ll put together a custom quote for you that factors in the discount for the portion it is applicable to.
